Gallery: Early risers stun at Supercar Sunday

02nd June 2019
Laura Thomson

As the annual Supercar Sunday Breakfast Club gets off to a sunny start, drivers from far and wide have gathered to celebrate the very best of exclusive design and automotive engineering.

One-by-one the cars emerge from the jaws of the tunnel and file through to take their respective places, fanning out across the track and through the paddocks. From our perch high in the grounds of the Motor Circuit, the Goodwood Road & Racing team has been busy – for want of a better phrase – ‘supercar spotting’.

We had it all, from the new DBS Superleggera Volante to a careful copy of Porsche’s 917 racer. We brought a 720S Spider, kindly provided by McLaren, which joined its 680bhp forebear – the McLaren F1 GTR – on the grid.

An F40 and a 328 GTS represented the Ferraris of yesteryear, while many of their modern counterparts – 488 Pista, 458 Speciale, 430 Scuderia and so on – were also on display.

There were a few odd balls, too, including a duo of DeLoreans, throwing Breakfast Club, quite literally, back to the future.
