Sure, the Lancia Delta S4 probably overshadows almost every other Delta when it comes to 'cool' factor. But it should never be forgotten that, after the Group B madness, it was Group A that spawned some of the finest road-going 'homologation specials' that adorned the bedroom of every teenager in the 1990s.
And it is the Delta Integrale that was the original hero of post-'B' rallying. The Integrale, in its various forms, won a staggering 47 rallies between 1987 and 1992, even more incredibly – despite missing out on the drivers' title in 1990 – the Integrale won the WRC manufacturers' title every year in that period. It was an astonishing run that should not be forgotten just because the older cars were more brutal.
At our 2019 Breakfast Club closer, our first-ever '80s Sunday, we met this example of the legend, resplendent in its Martini livery, complete with small rear spoiler, and still rallying to this very day.
