We are merely hours away from the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard getting underway, so to help you prepare for what is bound to be a weekend packed with action and excitement, we’ve put this definitive guide together where you can find everything you need all in one place.

Whether you’re attending the event, or planning to follow the action from home, this is the ultimate preview for the Festival of Speed.

If you haven’t been lucky enough to secure a ticket for the Festival of Speed this year then you are by no means alone (although at time of writing, there are some Thursday tickets available!). Fortunately, we’ll have coverage of every moment of hillclimb action from the very first run on Thursday morning until the culmination of the weekend on Sunday evening on our live stream. New car launches at the 2023 Festival of Speed

Thursday at the Festival of Speed promises to be one of the busiest days of the year for the car industry as a huge number of manufacturers prepare to debut their latest models. We’re expecting to see brand new unveils from the likes of Porsche, Hyundai, Caterham, Ferrari and Lamborghini, with many more either due to be on display or in dynamic action on the Hill throughout the weekend.

What’s happening at FOS Future Lab?

A world leading showcase of technology, this year FOS Future Lab presented by Randox is championing ‘Technology for a Better World’, incorporating the work of 23 pioneering exhibitors. It will also house a special exhibit called ‘Beyond Earth, For Earth’ curated by astronaut Tim Peak.

What’s happening at Electric Avenue?

The future of motoring is electric. So the Festival of Speed is keen to showcase the very latest electric cars on offer from many of the world’s leading manufacturers. There are offerings from mainstream brands: Ford, Renault, Porsche etc. But you’ll see some exciting new entries from companies you may not have heard of: HiPhi, BYD and Nio. Electric Avenue is back this year to help you find your perfect EV, whether you need space for a family, or something that’s going to offer some thrills.

MotoGP at the 2023 Festival of Speed

In case you missed it, this year at the Festival of Speed we’re set to be graced with the presence of some of the world’s best motorcycle racers from MotoGP. In all, you can expect to see bikes and riders from six different teams take to the Hill, including reigning world champion Francesco Bagnaia and his Ducati team-mate Enea Bastianini. This will be a rare demonstration of the latest machinery from one of the world’s premier motorsport series, which will see current bikes from the 2023 season fly past Goodwood House.

Porsche at the 2023 Festival of Speed

This year sees Porsche celebrated on the Goodwood Central Feature in front of the House, as the famous sportscar brand celebrates its 75th Anniversary. Underneath the spectacular sculpture, a cohort of Porsche’s most iconic road and racing cars will be under the spotlight throughout the weekend, both on the Hill and on display across the event.

What’s happening on the Forest Rally stage?

It’s not just about the cars on the Hill. The Forest Rally Stage will once again be a hive of activity as many of the world’s most famous rally cars tackle the challenging course. Machinery spanning the 1970s through to the very latest Rally1 regs will be on show, a list that includes Imprezas, Fiestas, Escorts and Quattros.

F1 at the 2023 Festival of Speed

As always, Formula 1 will have a substantial presence at the Festival of Speed. Both McLaren, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, and Williams, with Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant, will be in attendance over the weekend, while Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull will also be showcasing various cars from their history. A visit to the F1 paddock is always a worthwhile jaunt, but experiencing the V10 scream of cars such as the Williams FW19 will be true highlights of the weekend.

Which F1 drivers are coming to the Festival of Speed?

Star drivers at the 2023 Festival of Speed

It wouldn’t be the Festival of Speed without a long list of famous and legendary names on the entry list, and this year is no exception. Along with our four current F1 drivers, world champions Sebastian Vettel, Mika Häkkinen, Jenson Button, Emerson Fittipaldi will also be sending various racing icons up the Hill over the weekend.

Away from F1, the list of legends includes Tom Kristensen, Giacomo Agostini, Richard Attwood, Martin Brundle, David Coulthard, Mich Doohan, Dario Franchitti, Travis Pastrana, Mick Schumacher, Petter Solberg, Benoit Treluyer and Mark Webber. And that’s just to scratch the surface.
