We had the camouflaged, prototype Aston Martin DBX here in 2019, the production car in 2021 and now we have the ultimate evolution. Meet the Aston Martin DBX707, making its thunderous debut at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard.

Ramping up Aston Martin’s Festival power tally to more than 4,500PS, the DBX707 uses the same 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine from Mercedes but wound up to 707PS (519kW) and 900Nm (666lb ft) of torque. As if 157 extra horses and 200Nm over the standard car wasn’t impressive enough, it’s worth noting this luxury SUV has the same amount of torque as a McLaren P1.

The car uses a new wet-clutch nine-speed automatic transmission rather than the regular torque converter, and with power going to all four wheels you’ll hit 62mph in 3.3 seconds and go on to a top speed of 193mph, not that anyone will be doing that on the Hill. There’s a strengthened limited-slip differential, and tweaks have been made to the suspension, steering and aerodynamics. Stopping the car down into Molecomb are huge 420mm carbon-ceramic brake discs up front and 390mm discs at the rear with six-piston calipers, saving 40.5kg in unsprung mass. There’s a ‘Race Start’ mode, too, which we’re sure the drivers this weekend will use to great effect off the Start Line.

The quad-exhaust, as you’ll hear this weekend, plays quite the tune…
