The new Aston Martin Valiant will make its world debut at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard with Fernando Alonso at the wheel, leading a range of incredible winged machines in the Supercar run.
The Valiant, which was revealed only last week, will meet the public for the first time at the Festival of Speed, wearing a previously unseen red, white and blue paint scheme in tribute to the Aston Martin ‘Muncher’ race car that inspired it. As above, Alonso will be on hand to drive the car up the Hill on Friday and, knowing Fernando, he’ll put on quite the show.
Indeed this is a project purported to be close to Alonso’s heart, given it started life as a custom commission of his based on the Valour super GT. It has of course since evolved into a 38-car run of track-focused specials, based on Alonso’s idea of a fun track car, pairing a 745PS (548kW) twin-turbo V12 with a manual gearbox.
In the sprawling supercar run, the Valiant will be joined by a Valour coupe, the more road-focused car on which it’s based, as well as the one-off Vulcan-based Victor, the car that effectively got the ball rolling for this retro-styled family of exclusive super GTs. It also has a manual gearbox but pairs it with a 7.3-litre naturally-aspirated Cosworth-fettled V12 good for more than 840PS.
The snub-nosed family of retro-inspired GTs will be joined by a verified star of the Festival of Speed, the Aston Martin Valkyrie, which if anything is the antithesis of retro. This 11,000rpm-revving V12 Le Mans prototype for the road has wowed the crowds as it shrieks up the Hill for the past three years and it will return for 2024.
It will be joining the line-up of Aston Martins you can head down to a dealer and order right now, including the rejuvenated Vantage, the new DB12 Volante and the DBX 707, which will also be in action as part of First Glance presented by heycar. All will be active on the Hill from Thursday 11th July to Sunday 14th July.
