The wave of innovative Chinese EVs that are coming to take over Europe continues at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, with the European public debut of HiPhi and the HiPhi Y.
The HiPhi Y is an electric mid-sized SUV with a declared 500 miles of range courtesy of a 115kWh battery. Power is more than 330PS (243kW) and pricing is expected to be competitive with the Ford Mustang Mach-E. The most striking thing about the Y? Well, you’ve heard of a split tailgate, now get ready for split gullwing doors. Yes, the rear doors on the Y open skyward and you have two options of exactly how much door you want to lift up.
It won’t be the first HiPhi to reach UK customers, though. That honour goes to the HiPhi X, a larger, more expensive, lower-volume SUV model, packing up to 530PS (390kW) courtesy of a twin-motor setup, while delivering a declared 403 miles of range.
The Y and the X will deliver high levels of technology, with large-screen infotainment systems and strong equipment levels, alongside a luxurious and premium cabin feel.
You’ll be able to see the HiPhi Y for its European public debut on Electric Avenue, alongside a range of cutting-edge electric vehicles.
“Goodwood Festival of Speed is an iconic event with a truly global audience,” said HiPhi CTO and Co-Founder Mark Stanton.
“It’s a spectacle that celebrates not only a rich motoring history but also the cutting-edge present, which makes it the perfect backdrop for us to introduce the groundbreaking HiPhi brand and our HiPhi Y and Z to many people for the very first time.”
