Electric Avenue returns in 2024 as the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard’s window to the future of motoring, and it’s set to be bigger and better than ever this year, with several exciting new cars on display from a mix of established manufacturers and brand-new names.
The Festival of Speed’s EV showcase will be split into sections, each putting a different area of the motoring landscape under the spotlight. There will be individual focus on family cars, performance cars, and city cars.
In terms of electric performance cars, Electric Avenue will be home to a Porsche Taycan, the German brand’s 408PS (300kW) super saloon, alongside the Tesla Model 3 Performance, which can accelerate from 0-62mph in 2.9 seconds. They’ll be joined by the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, which made its dynamic debut on the Hill at the Festival of Speed last year, and the Callum Design Skye high performance off-roader.
Moving gradually towards the more attainable, sensible, day-to-day end of the market, there will be four family cars, the likes of which you might even be able to see yourself using for the school run. BMW will have a presence here with the new i5 Touring, an electric estate car with a 750-litre boot and 326-mile range, as will Mercedes with its exotic EQE 500 SUV. Representing a more affordable option is the Honda e:Ny1, the brand’s first fully electric car, and the brand new Omoda E5.
If it’s the smaller city cars that can dart unhampered across town that pique your interest, then this section of Electric Avenue is probably where your time will be best spent. The new Mini Cooper will be on display for us all to get a closer look at, alongside the fast-approaching Renault 5 E-Tech which is due on sale later this year. They’ll be sharing the space with the eye-catching BYD Dolphin, and the MG4 XPower with its 435PS (320kW) electric powertrain. MG has also confirmed that the MG5 will be on display inside Electric Avenue in 2024.
Those in attendance at the Festival of Speed will be able to visit Electric Avenue across all four days of the event, where they will be able to learn more about the future of electric cars, and the technology inside them.
The Festival of Speed takes place from 11th-14th July. Only Thursday general admission tickets remain, with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday tickets now sold out, although a limited number of hospitality packages for all days are still available. Tickets and packages can be purchased from £70.
