The first all-electric John Cooper Works Mini has made its debut at the 2024 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. It took to the Goodwood Hill as part of First Glance presented by heycar, marking the first opportunity for the public to see it in action.
Going up the Hill for the first time on Thursday, the new electric Mini was certainly one of the most recognisable cars in the First Glance Batch, with its eye-catching red livery with a white track design, and striking roof decoration. If not from the text, then the large, menacing-looking bulldog covering the roof was the indication you needed that this was being driven by the Bulldog Racing team, a private racing team based in Nürburg who race the Mini John Cooper Works race cars. They drove a works 1to6 Edition Race up the Hill last year, and were back for more, much to the delight of us all.
The car is expected to be fully revealed later this year as another feather in the cap of Mini’s totally rejuvenated line-up, which will be present at the Festival of Speed for attendees to take a closer look.
It’s been a quick transition for the brand. This time last year, Mini had yet to begin the transition of its line-up to the next generation, with the fourth-generation ‘new’ Mini not arriving until September. At the Festival this year we're able to get a look at the new Mini Cooper, the new Mini Countryman, and the new Mini Aceman.
The Mini Mixed Reality Experience is also be worth checking out for futurists and Mini fans alike. Drivers will be able to enjoy “immersing themselves in a unique ten-minute journey through the Mini universe”. You can find the VR experience in Car park M.
First Glance is the home for brand new cars at the 2024 Festival of Speed, an opportunity to get a closer look at the latest models from a spectrum of manufacturers from all over the world.
