One of the coolest exclusive debuts we had at the 2021 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard was neither a hypercar, V12-powered, made of carbon-fibre or stamped with a seven-figure price. For us, the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake beats out a number of rare and exotic machines.
It’s a Europe-exclusive version of the G70 saloon from the breakout luxury Korean marque and would you just look at it. Some of the sexiest lines, shapes, surfacing and detailing you’ll find on any car that can be described as ‘practical’. Actually, saying that, the entire Genesis line-up has a difficult-to-quantify stylish presence. They also all feature some of the nicest interior design we’ve seen this year, not to mention a high perceived quality.
The G70 Shooting Brake range is headed up by a 365PS (268kW) 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6 engine that those who have experience with top-end Kia Stinger GTs will be familiar with. A willing and muscular motor that is we think a good fit for this swift estate. It should be a decent thing to drive, too, with an electronic limited-slip differential, Brembo brakes and adaptive suspension at the top end of the range. Prices are yet to be announced but we expect you’ll be able to pick up two or three of these for the price of a Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo. You wouldn’t look any cooler for your money, that’s for sure...
