Day one of the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard has already come to a close. As the mecca of mechanical engineering and automotive audacity, throngs of early arrivals flooded the site from 7:00am, eager to immerse themselves in all the day’s action.
As always, Thursday marks a moment in time for fans and press alike to finally lay eyes on the very latest road cars from the world’s marques, where world debuts and long-awaited first glances become part of the industry’s most dynamic and kinetic motor show, by blasting up the famous Goodwood hillclimb for the first time. One of the most exciting this year was predictably the BMW M3 Touring, which stamped its authority on the wish lists of everyone within the Goodwood office from the off.
Of course, there was plenty more to see and do other than ogling over the shiniest new releases. Whether exploring the open and inviting paddocks, trekking through the now iconic rally stage, or participating in some passive smoking during the always bonkers Driftkhana practice. Thursday’s rapid pace set us up perfectly for the rest of the weekend.
