The Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard has been hosting some very special characters this year. A handful of genuine legends from the world of the Isle of Man TT, the world’s most famous motorcycle road race.
The Isle of Man TT is well known for the bravery of its riders, as these heroic figures circulate the treacherous Mountain Course at terrifying speeds. While they aren’t tackling the Goodwood Hill at quite such break-neck pace it’s still humbling to be in the presence of these larger-than-life characters.
There are several TT race winners in action over the course of the weekend. A list that is headlined by the most successful Isle of Man TT rider of all time, Michael Dunlop. The 29-time winner will be a headline figure at the Festival of Speed on Saturday, as we celebrate his incredible achievements with a Balcony moment at Goodwood House at 12:20.
He’ll be joined on the Hill by fellow TT winners John McGuinness, Peter Hickman and Davey Todd. Motorcycle legend and ten-time TT winner Giacomo Agostini has also been in action on the Hill atop his equally legendary MV Agusta 500 Three. Mick Grant, a seven-time winner has been riding his Honda RS1000.
You also can’t talk about the TT without mentioning Sidecars, whose equally heroic exploits we’ve experience first-hand earlier this year during the 81st Members’ Meeting. We welcome the reigning world champions Todd Ellis and Emmanuelle Clement to the Festival of Speed, along with eight-time world champion and one-time TT winner Tim Reeves and his passenger Mark Wilkes, and Maria Costello, once renowned as the fastest woman ever on the Mountain Course.
Keep an eye out for these TT legends when they take to the Hill during Batch 4 throughout the Festival of Speed.
