The Kia EV6 was already making a few waves with its impressive electric range and performance and, of course, those futuristic looks. Now at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, the Korean marque has unveiled a new flagship variant.
Packing an extremely hefty 585PS (430kW), the EV6 GT is Kia’s most powerful production car ever, and by quite some margin too. The performance is, as you’d expect, pretty spectacular. A 0-62mph time of 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 162mph are impressive in general, let alone for a sporty SUV.
To look at, Kia haven’t gone full ‘BMW M’ on the EV6 GT, with a gently breathed-upon aesthetic prevailing over outright halo car theatrics. It looks sporty but it’s not in your face – a verifiable sleeper then.
Under the skin there are a few bits going on to handle the extra grunt. The changeable driving modes now include GT mode, which primes the e-motors, the new e-LSD, the brakes, steering, suspension and stability control, ready for spirited driving. So, what do you think of what is, at present, the most powerful car Kia has ever made? If you drive one and you want to feel the full extent of that power, our advice is put your head against the headrest before you stamp on the fast pedal.
