His attendance at Goodwood is part of Red Bull Racing’s 20th anniversary celebrations, which have been front and centre of proceedings here at the Festival of Speed all weekend, culminating in a star-studded moment as Verstappen joined several of his fellow Red Bull drivers for a special parade up the Hill.
It was quite the sight to see so many Red Bull cars on the Hill at one time, and the three-time Formula 1 world champion sent sparks flying as he shot away from the Start Line, tyres spinning up as he put the power down past Goodwood House.
We were particularly impressed by Verstappen’s restraint as he fought the urge not to set the quickest time of the weekend on the Hill. He’s very used to winning these days, so to see a more relaxed side to the Dutchman made a nice change.
It’s always a special moment to have an F1 world champion here at the Festival of Speed, but to have the reigning champ in attendance is a rare thing indeed. Soak it up while you can! Who knows when the next opportunity will arise.
