In what is one of the more intriguing announcements ahead of this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard (23rd-26th June), the new Gen3 Formula E car will be seen on the move for the first time on the Hill.
The car is being prepared by the veteran Formula E team Mahindra, which will also be bringing its reserve driver and Festival of Speed legend Nick Heidfeld to drive the new 476PS (350kW) machine. This will be the first opportunity for members of the public, ourselves included, to see this all-new car in action, and to experience exactly how much faster it will go compared to the current generation car.
Designed to look more like a fighter jet than a racing car, Formula E is hoping this new, and by the sounds of it, much quicker car will deliver an even more exciting and watchable series for a wider audience of motorsport enthusiasts.
It’s claimed the new Gen3 car will be capable of top speeds exceeding 200mph, so we’ll be excited to see how close to that it can get when it soars past the House next weekend.
