Bentley’s latest introduction for its refreshed model range is a new flagship Continental, to sit above the Speed, and it’ll be making its dynamic debut at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard. Meet the Continental GT Milliner, a 208mph 659PS monster with very distinctive styling touches, added luxury and some choice upgrades under the skin.
If the Speed is all about performance, Mulliner brings that together with the comfort of the recently-announced Azure range. Not that the Speed was in any way uncomfortable. The upgraded W12 twin-turbo engine as above produces 659PS (485kW) and 900Nm (664lb ft), allowing the Mulliner to hit 62mph in 3.6 seconds on the way to a 208mph top speed. The Mulliner also gets the Speed’s active torque-vectoring electronic limited-slip differential, electronic all-wheel steering and 48-volt active anti-roll system. The Mulliner will drive like a Speed, so what differentiates it? Luxury, luxury, luxury.
Well, the new 22-inch Mulliner wheels are a giveaway, with their self-levelling Bentley ‘B’ badges in the centre. Face-on, you won’t mistake the Mulliner for any other Continental, with the new ‘Double Diamond’ matrix grille, which joins custom side vents and a number of other trimmings in either bright chrome or gloss black. The mirrors will shine down a nice ‘Mulliner’ puddle of light in the dark, complementing the ‘Mulliner’ illuminated door sills.
On the inside, it’s all about luxury and customisation. The Mulliner features a unique colour split, with eight different prescribed three-colour combinations, although, if you ask nicely (and pay well) and the world is your oyster. There are 88 Piano wood veneers to choose from, while the seats, door trims and rear quarter panels are ‘Diamond in Diamond’ trimmed, with up to 400,000 stitches. In terms of price, with the Speed coming in at £210,000, you can expect the Mulliner to either match or reasonably exceed that. You can catch a glimpse of latest Continental flagship as it makes its way up the Hill at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
