The all-new Toyota GR 86 will make its world dynamic debut at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard on 8th-11th July. To say we’re excited would be an understatement.
The GR 86 is the successor to the much-loved GT86, which itself made its debut at the Festival back in 2012. Under the bonnet, however, lies a bigger and more powerful 2.4-litre four-cylinder boxer engine with 235PS (173kW) backed up by 250Nm (185lb ft) of torque. Zero to 62mph takes 6.3 seconds, more than a second quicker than its predecessor, but even so, the GR 86 isn’t about outright performance but the process of driving. Weighing 1,270kg, available with a six-speed manual and rear-wheel-drive, it should be mighty good fun.
The GR 86 goes on sale in 2022, and its runs up the Hill in First Glance won’t just be the first time it has been seen in the UK but the first time it has been seen driving in public in the world.
If you still want to make it to the Festival but haven’t got hold of your ticket yet, fear not, tickets for Thursday are still available and if you can't make it to Goodwood don't forget to watch the whole thing right here on GRR with our live stream.
