The rolling Sussex countryside couldn’t be further from Indianapolis, but through motorsport the two are intrinsically linked. And at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, we celebrated the centenary of The Brickyard’s most famous race, the Indy 500.
In true Goodwood style, we went all out, gathering some of the greatest cars and drivers from throughout the race’s 100-year history, including Dario Franchitti, Scott Dizon, Helio Castroneves, Emerson Fittipaldi, Al Unser Jr., Arie Lyundyk, Dan Wheldon and even the former boss himself, Tony George.

During the 24-minute celebration, Queen's Brian May even performed a short set, accompanied by a guitarist atop the Goodwood House. But no sound could rival that of a fleet of angry IndyCars, as the drivers prepared to unleash their furious horsepower on the hillclimb.
