There are plenty of people around who look to racetracks for their weekend thrills. After all, it doesn’t matter how quick your car is, you can only go so fast on the road before your licence is thrown into a shredder. That is the reason why track-ready cars are sold direct from manufacturers. Enter the GT3.
The 992 GT3 can be had with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed double-clutch, a tricky decision as on the one hand you have one of the fastest gearboxes on the planet and on the other, a delightful three-pedal set-up. Now the buying process has been further complicated by this, the GT3 Touring. It’s the same as the GT3 in many ways – the same power, the same torque, the same choice of manual or auto ’box – but comes without that big rear wing.
Our first chance to see it was at the 2021 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard and seeing the GT3 Touring alongside the GT3 on the Hill, we were stumped as to which we’d want to own more. The one with more downforce or the one that’s more subtle but just as fast? A tricky decision, especially when they’re the same price, too…
