With the First Glance batch running up the Hill twice on each of the four days, we’ve been able to take a good look at this latest model running for the very first time. We knew how it was faster and lighter than ever but its one thing to read about, and something rather different to see it in action.
The four-wheel drive system with improved cooling and new engine mounts made it ideal for tackling the Hillclimb, and we got a taste of the promised 188mph top speed as it whizzed past the House, courtesy of the 550PS (405kW) straight-six engine.
The M4 CS’s bright blue livery made for a cheery picture against a backdrop of the golds and green hues of the estate, but seeing it stare down the startline with its steely gaze courtesy of those angular headlights, we knew it meant business.
And it delivered, seeming right at home on the Hill, and just brushing past the straw bales on its way to the finishline.
