The 2019 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard Timed Shootout was really very special. We had Julian Majzub slide a Bugatti Type 35B up the Hill in 64 seconds, Jeremy Smith blast up the course in a Penske-Chevrolet PC22 and, of course, Romain Dumas rocket to the finish line in damp conditions in 42.32 seconds with the Volkswagen ID.R.
Sadly conditions meant Dumas couldn’t match the 39.90 he set the day before on Shootout Sunday, but his run was still enough to take overall honours in 2019.
Elsewhere Emanuele Pirro put in good show in a Chevrolet NASCAR, taking fastest saloon honours (even though he spent most of his drive going sideways), and the father and son team of Petter and Oliver Solberg fought hard to show who’s fastest in the Solberg household.
As ever, Shootout Sunday did not disappoint.
