The 2023 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard opened with a bang, with the Duke of Richmond taking the inaugural Hill run for the year in an Ecurie Ecosse Jaguar D-Type. After that, Pandora’s box was open, with debuts for metal that’s still too hot to the touch, such as the Ineos Genadier Quartermaster and the Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer DLS Turbo Project. Lanzante debuted its latest road conversion, the Pagani Zonda Revolucion, as well as its McLaren P1 Spider, while McLaren gave its incredible Solus GT an inaugural public run up the Hill, exercising that Judd V10 beautifully.
They were joined by incredible racing cars from Porsche’s history, for the Porsche 75 moment, including the Pink Pig 911 RSR from 2018 and the 2015 919 LMP1 car. We were all stunned too when Karun Chandhock sent the screaming Mazda 787B Le Mans winner up the Hill too. Speaking of Le Mans and, specifically, the future of Le Mans, the latest hypercar to join the fray for 2024 got its reveal: the new Lamborghini SC63 LMDh car. Around and in-between, drift stars, F1 icons and everything else in between. And that was only Thursday…
