How many hay bales are used at FOS?
For the last two years, 5,800 bales have been recylced into the biomass energy centre to be used for energy generation
It wasn’t an easy job condensing the whole day’s action into a twenty-minute highlights video, but here’s the very best of what happened on and around the 1.16-mile hillclimb. Early on is an Aston Martin DBS Superleggera that makes about the smokiest departure from the startline this side of a drift car. We also have an appearance from the one-off Ferrari KC23, the restyling exercise based on the 488 GT3 that points the way toward’s future Maranello styling.
Several of the celebratory moments appear in the video, too. Lotus reaches its 75th anniversary this year, a milestone marked with several Formula One cars parading up the Hill with a fanfare of green and yellow pyrotechnics. Ferrari’s 2023 Le Mans win, its first since 1965, was marked at the House while Sebastian Vettel takes to the track in his own Williams FW14B.
That’s an important point, actually: the Festival of Speed is as much about the people as it is the cars. BTCC driver Jake Hill tells Goodwood’s Ed Foster what it was like to fling the Calsonic Nissan GT-R up the hill, and we join Le Mans-winner Richard Attwood aboard a Porsche 917K as he makes his ascent.
One of the peak moments of the Sunday of the Festival of Speed is, of course, the Timed Shootout when all eyes are divided between the Hill and the stopwatch. Watch as the McLaren Solus is pinned to the surface and Travis Pastrana’s Subaru GL Family Huckster slides its way through the same corners. The result was surprisingly similar times...
We feel we could do it all over again.
