Sunday is the big one at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, as casual demonstrators make way for aggressive competitors, pushing for classification in the Timed Shootout. We also had the stars coming out to play, from F1, the celebrity world and beyond. Sunday is also the last chance for everyone, competitor or otherwise, to have a bit of fun, so whoever holds back on initial runs tends to push a bit harder on their last chance dash.
In addition to the incredible McMurtry taking the all-time Hill record, toppling the Sunday record after 23 years, we had F1 star George Russell on the Hill in the incredible W10, giving him another tantalising taste of what Mercedes at its absolute best can do. We had Senna’s championship-winning V10 McLaren with Mika Hakkinen, joining a number of incredible machines from BMW Motorsport’s storied racing history. The best moment for us? It couldn’t be anything other than Nigel Mansell celebrating 30 years since his incredible championship win, getting back in Red 5 for the first time since Adelaide 1992. What a day.
