The debuts have come thick and fast here at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, and perhaps one of the bravest new releases comes in the form of the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake. Now, it’s no secret the team here are big fans of estates. So when we heard this spicy swept-back wagon version of the marque’s G70 saloon was being unveiled this weekend, we couldn’t wait to get a closer look.
But what’s risky about it you ask? Well, after operating as a standalone from Hyundai in America for over five years now, Genesis is aiming to launch as a premium brand in Europe. The car in which they start that no-doubt long and historically-arduous campaign is the one we see before us.
A luxury-inspired, suave and we think, bloomin’ lovely looking thing, the Shooting Brake is powered by a 365PS (268kW) 3.3-litre twin-turbo V6. More than enough to back up its stunning good looks with a power unit to deliver not only form, but function. Fitted with Brembo brakes, an E-LSD and adaptive dampers on the top-end version, we hope it brings Genesis success. Simply because we’d love to see a lot more of these on the roads.
