One of the coolest moments of the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard came not from a car exhumed from the annals of motorsport history, but one that just a month ago, was turning a wheel in anger for the first time at Le Mans. We of course refer to the Garage 56 Hendricks Motorsport Chevrolet Camaro, driven at Le Mans, and at Goodwood this weekend, by 2009 F1 World Champion Jenson Button. Needless to say, game as ever, Jenson put on one heck of a show for the adoring crowds, turning the Camaro into a tyre-destroying machine.
Right from the off, Jenson fully extends the monster machine, ripping a burnout right along the start-finish straight and only concluding at the first corner. He rounds the corner, then tops it into an almighty donut that transitions into a rolling burnout. All this rather sets the tone for the rest of his run – it’s one of the biggest smoke shows the Festival of Speed has ever seen and we’re so here for it.
