2009 Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button is no stranger to fast cars – or Goodwood for that matter. The 40-year-old Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard regular has been behind various wheels since the tender age of eight, and boasts a distinguished 17-year F1 career.
So, the finesse with which he pilots a McLaren MP4-12C up the Goodwood hillclimb is hardly surprising. But nonetheless, we can’t help but watch in awe as the first true McLaren production car cuts a fine line up the Duke of Richmond’s famous driveway.
Accompanied by the man responsible for the MP4-12C's development and former McLaren test driver, Chris Goodwin, Button takes the burnt orange car for a smooth jaunt up the haybale-lined hillclimb, its 600PS twin-turbo V8 engine purring in accord as he shifts seamlessly through the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
