Pretender to the 300mph throne: this breed of hypercar hasn't been around very long, has it? Well here at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, we have three of them. Koenigsegg have a history with high speeds so we’ve every confidence this, the Jesko Absolut, can challenge the Bugatti Chiron SuperSport 300+ at the top end.
Absolut refers to Koenigsegg’s claim that this car will be it for the marque’s pursuit of ever-higher V-Maxes. It is the top speed-focused Koenigsegg, which is saying something given this company’s early history is defined by pushing that boundary. The Jesko Absolut ought to be quite the car, with reduced downforce and drag in order to give the 1,600PS (1,177kW) 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 the best change of getting it well beyond 300mph. One day we hope to see that happen. For now, we see it attack the Hill at FOS 2022 and listen to that screaming flat-plane crank V8.
