Video: McMurtry vs F1 FOS records side-by-side

Max Chilton historically broked the Timed Shootout record at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard – which has stood for 23 years.

Nick Heidfeld set a time of 41.6 seconds in 1999 at the wheel of his McLaren MP4/13, during the final Timed Shootout. Now, more than two decades on, that record has finally been broken. The McMurtry Speirling managed the same 1.16-mile route in 39.08 seconds.

In this video, you can watch the two runs side by side. The highly composed McMurtry makes the McLaren look a real handful by comparison, but they're both a real spectacle in their own rights.
