Ever driven a BMW M4 Competition and thought it needed more power? The answer is more than likely no, because the M4 is something of a tyre-slaying weapon. And yet we have this at the 2022 Festival of Speed, the M4 CSL.
To be clear, this does have more power than the standard M4, the 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight-six producing 550PS (405kW), 40PS more than normal. But the CSL moniker means ‘Coupe Sport Light’, so the car you see here weighs 100kg less than a regular M4. The probably explains why the M4 CSL shifts up the Festival hillclimb quite so quickly, the driver, Joerg Weidinger, blasting through the first corner, dancing across the tarmac in front of Goodwood House and powering its way up the Hill in around 51 seconds. Crikey.
So, sit back and enjoy one of the most driver focussed BMW M road cars ever.
