The Polestar 3 unfurled the flag of Swedish good taste as the near-production ready prototype made its dynamic debut at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard.
The Polestar 3 – a practical electric SUV with plenty of thump – could well be one to top your next new-car shopping list.
It lacks the visual flare of the larger Polestar 5, but it does have Polestar's characteristically chunky design backed up by a sloping roof that gives it a sportier gait than your average SUV.
The advantage of the upright body is excellent interior space. There's loads of room in there for four – you can wedge a fifth in the back if need be – and you get a generous 35-litre storage bin in the front of the car backed up by a 484-litre boot. The car's giant, freestanding portrait-style infotainment screen means the posh cabin can be pleasing minimalistic.
Polestar fans will undoubtedly be pleased with how the 3 attacked the hill. A rear-biassed four-wheel-drive system makes it a surprisingly playful steer and, with up to 521PS (383kW) on offer, it’s not slow – 0-62mph takes a hypercar-harrowing 3.1 seconds. The Polestar 3 is available to order now priced from £80,000.
