Video: Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer DLS Turbo Project at the 2023 Festival of Speed
We’ve marvelled at the cars from Singer Vehicle Design for more than a decade now, always in total awe of the machines it creates and wondering what it’ll create next. Suffice to say, the Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer DLS Turbo Project, Singer’s latest creation, has completely blown us away at the 2023 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard.
Unveiled just a couple of weeks ago, the DLS Turbo Project is a glorious nod to Porsche’s brutal Group 5 racers of the late 1970s. It came about as customers had asked for some sort of mash-up between the Dynamics & Lightweighting Study (DLS) unveiled in 2019 and the Turbo Study from 2022, both of which stormed up the Festival Hill.
Although the car started out life as a Type 964 air-cooled 911, the car you see here is very far removed from a ‘regular’ 964. Aside from the exquisite carbon-fibre exterior and the jaw-dropping interior, the DLS Turbo Project is powered by a 3.8-litre, twin-turbo, air-cooled flat-six featuring electric wastegates, fed by air-to-water intercoolers. The motor revs to over 9,000rpm and produces upwards of 700PS.
Customers can choose for a road-focussed or track-focussed machine, with the former, for example, featuring a less aggressive front end, but the latter featuring an adjustable rear wing.
The price? There’s no exact figure from Singer, because every car is made to the exact specification of the customer, so the price varies accordingly. But the number will almost certainly have seven figures.
