One of the most hotly-anticipated debuts at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard by our live audience, was the Prodrive P25, a restomod tribute to the incredible Subaru Impreza 22B and the legendary two-door Prodrive rally cars it homologated.
Just 25 of these bespoke specials are being made, with a carbon body, a custom 395PS (295kW) 2.5-litre turbocharged flat-four, a six-speed sequential transmission and twin limited-slipper diffs. The only catch is that each of the 25 Prodrive intends to make, will cost £552,000. At least, that was a catch. Today Prodrive announced that the full run of P25s it intends to build has sold out, with every one of these half-million-pound heroes spoken for. Top work if you can get it.
To be honest, looking at the P25’s Hill run here at Goodwood, we’re not surprised a few chequebooks were twitching. No Subarus this side of those belonging to Mark Higgins, Travis Pastrana, Ken Block and Colin McRae move like that past the flint wall. This is a proper homologation racer for the road; as Prodrive intends it, a 22B for the 2020s.
