What is a racing driver’s favourite cake? I won’t even answer that… But Sébastien Loeb, at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed Presented by Mastercard, will.
Six years ago, the French rally ace took to the 1.16-mile hillclimb in his Citroën DS3 WRC to perform a high-speed run, interspersed by a series of pirouettes worthy of a ballerina.
Three times he stops to spin on the one-and-a-half-minute run, turning on the spot as if on a pivot. And while his stunts mean that he may not set any speed records, he certainly takes the win in the style stakes.
But his skill is hardly surprising, for Loeb is the most successful driver in WRC history, with nine World Rally Championships and 79 rally victories to his name. At the Festival in 2014, he paired his Hill antics with some serious racing on the Forest Rally Stage, before winning the Timed Shootout in Peugeot’s 208 T16 Pikes Peak challenger.
