It’s not long now until the Sussex downs echo once again to the sound of the world’s greatest cars: the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard is back. So, as a reminder, here’s a taste of what we’ve all been missing these last two years. These are the eight best sounding cars from the 2019 Festival.
Obviously, we open with some screaming F1 machinery, specifically one of the sport’s most dominant cars ever. The F2004 was Ferrari’s masterstroke and a titan of the howling V10 era. Then we have the high-nosed slim-hipped Red Bull RB8 of the 2012 F1 season, one of the final naturally-aspirated F1 cars ever, with a screaming V8.
Of course, it’s not all single-seaters at the Festival. We are lovers of all flavours of racing and all kinds of engines. We now move through a warbling, barking IMSA Audi, a rasping Lancia Stratos and howling Ford GT40 Roadster. Back closer to the modern era, is the Judd V10-powered Dallara SP1 sportscar, before we go way back in time to when Pendine Sands was the home of speed, with the ‘Babs’ special. Which do you think sounds the best, or have we missed your favourite from 2019? Either way, the 2021 Festival looms. Catch all the action in the live stream right here on GRR...
