The spectacle of the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard is all well and good, but in the end a selection of cars have to take on our Hill as fast as they possibly can in the Timed Shootout. That usually yields some epic results. So we thought we’d compile a video of the fastest timed cars at the Festival of Speed.
We begin with the absolute legend that is Olaf Manthey, founder of Manthey Racing, competing in a Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport. Harnessing the raw power of the twin-turbo Porsche keeping a razor-sharp line up the Hill, Manthey sets a mighty 51.45-second time. Following him are a Ferrari Challenge car scoring a 49.88-second run and a Puma WRC car scoring 49.47 seconds.
The EV hypercar titan that is the Rimac Nevera and its driver, Miroslav Zrncevic Mrgud, had eyes set on glory on the Hill this weekend. He deployed four figures of all-electric horsepower to climb to an incredible 49.32-second time.
Florent Moulin then left everyone behind by a second, posting a 48.29-second run in his stunning Chrysler Viper GTS-R. The top five was closely fought, with Jake Hill in the Skyline GT-R, the crazy Adam Smalley in the 911 GT3 Cup, Michael Lyons in the McLaren M26 and of course, Travis Pastrana in the Subaru GL Family Huckster finishing out the runners-up.
But it was the McLaren Solus GT, a bespoke track-only V10-powered hypercar, that took honours, with a finishing time of 45.34 seconds. What a machine!
