The Timed Shootout hung in the balance this year as the skies above Goodwood threatened cars and drivers that were traction-limited in anything other than perfect conditions....

With Justin Law and the Jaguar XJR-12D out, the main fight came down to these five: Jake Hill in the 1,000PS (735kW) Group A Skyline, Harry King in the razor-sharp freshly run-in Porsche 992 GT3 Cup, Jeremy Smith in the bruiser Spice-Cosworth, Travis Pastrana in his psycho Subaru and Rob Bell in the McLaren 720S GT3X.

A few minutes either side of the coming rain shower could have made the difference at the top. However, a combination of dry conditions just about holding, Rob Bell’s clinically executed run and Pastrana’s fun-to-watch but not exactly speed-conducive blunders, put the mega McLaren on top.
