Exploring the paddocks of the Goodwood Revival
A wander around the paddocks at the Goodwood Revival is a wonderful pastime. It’s a stimulation of all five senses, a palpable experience of the world as it was 75 years ago. When it comes to historic motorsport, there is no place better in the world than our own little corner of the West Sussex countryside.
You can hear the sounds of V8 warming up, the roar of ‘60s Formula 1 cars circulating the Motor Circuit echoing in the background. All around you there are crowds decked out in period attire, you really could be enjoying the sunshine in 1959.
Then there’s the smell, a glorious mix of engine oil, fuel and warm brakes. This is absolute dream if you’re a car enthusiast. Nothing beats the aroma of a race meeting at Goodwood, especially not as you saunter by the numerous food stalls dotted around the site.
Oh, and everywhere you look, there are cars, each capable of causing you to stop in your tracks and gawp. Start with the line-up of Lotuses here to celebrate 75 years of the famous marque, the mouth-watering parade of sports prototypes and Can-Am monsters waiting to fire up for the Whitsun Trophy.
Follow that up with the limitless charisma of the saloons in the St. Mary’s Trophy presented by Motul and you’ve got every angle covered for the perfect day of Motorsport. We love the Goodwood Revival, and we can’t wait to see what Saturday brings.
