Following the success of GRR’s awesome Members’ Meeting Favourite Moments live stream, and with the coronavirus lockdown set to continue, we’re pleased to announce that GRR is going to do it all over again. And again. And again!
Starting on Easter Monday, April 13th, a series of GRRC Replays will be streamed every fortnight, including a mixture of full day replays from the GRRC archive and curated events.
The opener of the series will recall the famed Easter Monday Goodwood racing events which took place prior to 1966. For 18 seasons from 1949-1966, the Easter Monday meetings were the opening fixture of the British Motorsport calendar. Featuring Formula 1 stars of the day including Moss, Brabham, Clark and more and a list of winning cars featuring Maserati 250F, ‘Thinwall Special’ and Lotus 18, the Easter Monday event was one of the highlights of the Goodwood year.
Now the team at GRR have collated a list of modern Goodwood races that evoke those iconic events to stream ‘live’ on Easter Monday. This day-long event, kicking off at 10am, will include three separate eras of Grand Prix racers, covering everything from pre-war brutes to the dainty 1.5-litre F1 cars of the mid-‘60s. The same titles that were fought for at the original meetings will also be celebrated, with names such as Glover Trophy, Lavant Cup and Richmond Trophy all represented – as they were in period. And there will be a few fan favourites thrown into the mix.
We’ll have a full timetable later this week and, of course, will be running a full live blog and social media content, but once the stream is over it won’t be the end of the action. Members of the GRRC Community will be able to relive the whole event soon afterwards, as it takes its place in our incredible archive, and the team will be busy working away on the following fortnight’s entertainment.
We have much more planned for the next few months before we are back in action for real, raiding our incredible archive for the most thrilling content from Members' Meetings, Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard and the Goodwood Revival. Look out for our Flashback films as well, which look at the glory days of the Goodwood Motor Circuit.
If you cannot wait until Monday for more action, remember that there is a huge collection of archive races and full event days from the last quarter of a century available right now in the GRRC Archive, free for all members of the GRRC community.
