The Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy annually brings some of the most edge-of-your-seat racing to the Revival, as riders pass at blistering speeds within a whisker of one another. Mistakes can have catastrophic consequences here, making their fearless performances all the more impressive.
Practice unfolded on Friday, followed by race one in the sun on Saturday, won by the pairing of Steve Plater and Michael Dunlop. But victory rested on today, and a handful of pairings from the 30-strong grid were in contention.
While the Weather Gods appeared to have taken the day off, the light drizzle didn’t affect the track, and the action was as hot as ever. Thirty-three laps of intense competition unfolded between the race leaders and, despite a difficult start, Plater and Dunlop stormed to a spectacular win aboard their 1967 MV Agusta 500/3.
More than 20 seconds behind were Bardell and Hayden, aboard their 1962 Matchless G50, followed by Thomas/Todd aboard a 1960 Norton Manx 30M.
