The RAC TT Celebration has always been one of the highlights of the Goodwood Revival and has long been referred to as the ‘Blue Riband’ race of the weekend. There is always a heightened sense of expectation as all eyes turn towards this field of iconic sportscars when they line up on the grid on Sunday afternoon.
Even among a mouth-watering programme of races being contested some of the most beautiful cars ever made, the RAC TT still manages to stand out with its collection of '60s sportscars from the roaring V8s of Corvettes and Cobras, to the howling flat-six of the Porsche 904 and a whole load else in between. This year’s grid also includes some other interesting machines dotted between those most famous names. There’s a Tojeiro EE, a Sunbeam Lister Tiger and a TVR Griffith 400, the latter lending some underdog intrigue at the head of the pack.
As always, the list of names behind the wheel is just as exciting as the cars themselves. The headliners include 2009 F1 world champion Jenson Button, 2022 Formula E world champion Stoffel Vandoorne, seven-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson, four-time IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti and seven-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen.
The RAC TT Celebration is always a fantastic event, and this year’s line up has delivered another thrilling spectacle, from Button's blisteringly fast but ultimately ill-fated turn in his E-Type, to the Cobra battle for the win.
