As far as motorists go, you can’t get a much more sustainably-minded bunch than the Goodwood Revival community. Committed to restoring and looking after vintage, historically significant cars is a vocation, firmly based on a long-term world view that relies on the mantra of ‘make do and mend’.
With increasing significance, this appreciation for quality rather than quantity and a focus on cherishing belongings for a lifetime of use is what inspired the Revive & Thrive Village at Goodwood Revival 2022.
This hub of hobbyists, craftspeople, mechanics, designers and writers comes to life using workshops, exhibitions and live talks. It aims to educate and inspire, challenging us all to reconsider today’s throwaway culture.
Whether watching a demonstration on how to tinker with a vintage motorcycle, or how to reupholster an aging dining room chair, the Revive and Thrive Village is a fantastic place to learn new skills and appreciate the small joys found in reusing, repairing and repurposing.
We may well be at a vintage-inspired event, but what’s going on here is very much part of our future.
