In one direction, looming black skies are pregnant with precipitation. In the other, the radiant orange of the sun’s rays reflected on thin wisps of cloud overhead and the wings of war birds demonstrating overhead. It’s Sunday at the 2024 Goodwood Revival and nature is yet to decide which way the wind is to blow.
Come rain or shine, though, this is the day we will see the opening of the Tyrrell Shed by His Grace the Duke of Richmond and the D-Day parade. It’s the day we’ll see Part 2 of the St Mary’s Trophy presented by Motul, Part 2 of the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy and the crown jewel of the Revival, the RAC TT
Celebration.
The uncertainty overhead therefore has no bearing on what’s happening in the paddocks. The owners, preparers and mechanics are readying these cars for one last blast. The air is still and quiet for the moment but soon it’ll be vibrating and diluting with the sound and smell of sustainably-fuelled internal combustion.
