The Earls Court Motor Show at the Goodwood Revival is always an exclusive and exciting look at the cars of the future. Of course, outside of the Revival, they are the cars of the present, but it’s so interesting to see what’s coming in 2023 and beyond, compared with what came before.
Take for instance the Mini, of which a brand new all-electric generation is making its UK debut at the Revival in 2023. We see the new Cooper – the most ‘traditional’ Mini – next to the original Cooper of the 1960s in ‘Cooper’s, Mini’s retro-inspired supermarket.
In terms of their principles, of being right on the pulse of what motorists want, they’re the same. In 1959, small, sporty, affordable, was the order of the day. Today, sustainable, stylish, high-tech and zero tailpipe emissions.
Likewise, the sprawling history of glorious petrol-powered Formula 1 cars from Lotus out in the paddocks, contrasts the all-electric 2,000PS Lotus Evija, which incidentally, is Jenson Button’s car. You might have clocked it was his based on the Brawn-inspired livery. It joins the Emira sportscar, the new Eletre and the original Elan to show the breadth of the history of Lotus road cars in Earl’s court.
We also see the latest and greatest next to the most iconic historic models from Aston Martin, Jaguar, BMW and more. There are some great ‘how it started, how it’s going’ comparisons to be made. Don’t skip Earl’s Court at Revival 2023.
