The Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy is split into two parts, just like the St. Mary’s Trophy presented by Motul. Unlike the saloon car race, the motorcycle race involves both riders in each race. That means we could expect the same top flight roster of Isle of Man legends on the Sunday as we did the Saturday.
Action lived up to expectation with so many battles throughout the field that it was almost impossible to keep up with everything that went on during the half-hour race. One of the key battles was between Dean Harrison and John McGuinness, who eventually ended up fifth and sixth overall in race two. The spoils went to Michael Rutter and Michael Russell, Davey Todd and George Thomas came in second and Steve Brogan/Ian Bain completed the all-Norton Manx 30M podium.
Once the first race had been taken into account, the final aggregated result was Rutter/Russell in first, Plater/English in second and Todd/Tomas in third.
