The RAC TT Celebration at the Goodwood Revival is always one of the highlights of the entire year in our little corner of the motorsport world. As many of the world’s most beautiful and sonorous sportscars rumble around the famous Motor Circuit. But this year’s race was characterised by a torrential downpour. All of a sudden, the drivers, who have a difficult enough time clinging on to these cars in perfect conditions, were faced with an altogether more substantial challenge.
Their struggle however was our gain, as we were treated to a stunning spectacle as some of the world’s very best drivers laid all of their talents on the table in a showcase of car control and outright bravery.
Roman Dumas leads away from the restart ahead of Tom Kristensen as the rest of the field slithers over the start line in truly treacherous conditions. Oliver Bryant sends one up the inside of TK into Fordwater, a move that we wouldn’t even consider in the dry, and carries the momentum past Dumas through St. Mary’s.
We cannot imagine the levels of intensity inside the cockpits of these cars, safe to say heartbeat monitors would be ticking towards 200bpm. Videos like this make us miss the Revival, we can’t wait to do it all again next year.
