The Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy was a hotly contested, high-stakes, high-risk battle, with seasoned jockeys duking it out on temperamental pre-1954 racing bikes, with two parts spread across the Revival weekend. With the Le Mans start, last minute reliability issues and changeable conditions from day to day, it really was anyone’s game.
A spectacular saga from 2016’s Barry Sheene was the contest between TT legends John McGuinness and Michael Dunlop. McGuiness and Dunlop fought closely in part 1, finishing a respective fourth and fifth, before McGuiness went on to take the win in part 2. As we can see in the video above, this drawn-out duel is interspersed with drama, thrills and spills.
