On the 75th anniversary of VE Day, and as we’ve been hosting our VE Day live stream, we’ve brought you a number of stories that we wouldn’t normally feature on GRR. We’ve written about how car manufacturers pivoted to build parts destined for machines of war in World War II, and we’ve even published a gallery filled entirely with planes. Now it’s time for something else that isn’t strictly car related but, still, completely enthralling: when the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight came to Goodwood.
The Hawker Hurricane is piloted by Squadron Leader Duncan Mason, the Lancaster Bomber by Flight Lieutenant Ernie Taylor and Squadron Leader Jamie Watson, and the Supermarine Spitfire by Flight Lieutenant Antony Parkinson. For those of us who were lucky enough to be there, to see these beasts fly in formation over the Motor Circuit, once home to RAF Westhampnett, it’s a sight we’ll never forget.
