All of the cars in the Goodwood Trophy originally competed before the Motor Circuit’s opening in 1948. With cars dating back to 1931, the race provided a spectacle of motorsport’s pioneering era. Several of the marques are still going strong today – Bugatti, Alfa Romeo, Maserati and Bentley among them – while other such as ERA and Frazer Nash take their place in the history books.
The pre-war racers always make for a spectacle with their tiny tyre contact patches, archaic brakes and crazy wheel cambers. The action is alway close with plenty of overtaking. We hope that you, and those who have kindly joined the Goodwood Supporters' Association whom this race was in honour of, enjoy this gallery from Goodwood SpeedWeek presented by Mastercard.
