Look out onto the road, take note of all the high-rise crossovers and larger SUVs you see. There are loads, aren’t there? Now consider this. Every single one owes its existence to one model. That model is the Range Rover, arguably still the king of the SUV landscape.
To celebrate 50 years of this groundbreaking model, we take a look at its incredible history, from its introduction as a farmhand designed to be ‘four cars in one’, through its evolution into what has for decades been considered the ultimate statement car. It all started with the 1969 box-frame mule that all Range Rovers ever made can trace their roots back to. What better setting for this than the Eastnor proving grounds where it first cut its teeth over five decades ago, and what better toybox to examine the history of the model than JLR Classic’s incredible historic collection.
