We can be forgiven for assuming that racing drivers are somewhat one-dimensional beasts given the level of behind-the-wheel heroics we often witness. Take three-time Le Mans-winner, all-round motorsport heavyweight and Goodwood regular André Lotterer, for instance.
Surely when he’s not out on track, he’s in a simulator or training in preparation for racing? Well, no actually. Racing drivers are people too, you know. As a matter of fact, André is as keen on his photography as he is his driving.
We tracked him down at SpeedWeek presented by Mastercard for a chat about his on-track life, as well as his love of photography. SpeedWeek offered him a chance to stretch his legs at both racing and shooting. Happily, his drives in the RAC TT, Gerry Marshall Trophy presented by Sure and St. Mary’s Trophy didn’t taking up 100 per cent of his time over the course of the event.
